I wrote a poem called A Rising Storm and it was ju I wrote a poem called A Rising Storm and it was just released in my 3 min podcast episode on @amoytpodcast (link in bio).

The episode is called The Courage to Create because I wanted to encourage anyone who's having a tough time creating/ working on a project and perhaps feeling a bit under supported - I feel your pain! And keep going, anyone with the time to criticise you is probably not the person whose opinion you need to give weight to.

A Moment of Your Time is a great podcast with delicious bite-sized chunks of inspiration and insight you can check out whenever you need a boost or to learn or feel something. In their words it is a space for "artistic expression, collaboration, community and solidarity" and I have really loved listening to a lot of the episodes. 🎶🙌🦅🌤

In these sometimes tense times it is easy for rela In these sometimes tense times it is easy for relationships to become strained and for us to blame and criticise others more than we normally would.

I contributed to an article on Up Journey all about this, why not have a read of some great tips from a range of experts on how to keep things healthy and positive (link in bio). Here is an extract from my contribution:

"Looking at how we feel while criticizing others will start to give us a clue as to what we are trying to avoid feeling.

For many of us, it is simply fear of being out of control and if we can control those around us we may feel more empowered, even if it is a short-lived feeling and does not help us to feel safer in the long term."

We all do it sometimes, but although we might feel guilty about it - these judgements can be valuable. They tell us a lot about ourselves and our shadow, and are a great place to start an exploration of our less-integrated parts.

If you decide to reflect more deeply on these judgements, remember to always be kind to yourself and if you feel you need some extra guidance, a counsellor or a coach may be very helpful to you in this process. 👣 🧘‍♀️ 🌤

In this article for @thrive global I discuss tools In this article for @thrive global I discuss tools for cultivating emotional, physical, mental and spiritual wellness. Check out one of the tips for feeling better emotionally below, and click the link in the bio to read the rest.

- Do not reject negative emotions, but also do not wallow in them. While some people seem to swim in a pool of negativity, others seem to be attempting to fly above negative thoughts and refuse their existence. Neither is a balanced approach. A lot of people are saying “don’t surrender to the fear of the pandemic”. Well, fear is a natural response to danger — almost a sign of sanity. If you are not feeling a little bit of fear about the situation there is probably something wrong with you. But after feeling it, what do you do — go into a spiral of 24 hour news and worst-case scenario-worries, fight with it to try and defeat it, subscribe to a theory from an “expert on the internet” that tells you there is nothing to worry about? I recommend when you feel a difficult emotion at first just breathe, experience the emotion as it is before you allow your mind to attach thoughts or a story to it. Then just accept it, accept the discomfort without needing it to be different. If you need to, express your emotion — through drawing, writing, screaming into a pillow or movement, perhaps. Then consciously shift your focus to what you want to think about. This is not repressing the emotion, it is just putting things in perspective and choosing where you put your attention. After all, at any given time we might be experiencing a wide range of emotions but are not aware of them because we are thinking about something else. If you try fighting an emotion you will lose, but through listening to it and then deciding where to put your focus you can stay centred.

You can also find more self-help tips on my site and YouTube channel (link in bio). 😊🙌✨

I was thinking about the things we go through when I was thinking about the things we go through when we step up to the challenge of completing a project and then putting it out into the world when I wrote today's blog article (link in bio).

Some people who have not yet taken their first steps on that journey may think successful people are somehow different to them. That people who succeed have some invisible, rarified quality. In fact a lot of it is just hard work, humility, faith and a desire to bring something into the world.

If you’re looking for some motivation or some advice on completing projects, check out my blog and also let me know what you’re working on! I love hearing about peoples projects and dreams ♥️🙌✨

I loved contributing to the #authoritymagazine int I loved contributing to the #authoritymagazine interview series on optimising mental, physical, emotional and spiritual wellness. In the article I share many helpful tips which you can read on their site (link in bio). Many of us are on zoom a lot at the moment and have been feeling the effects of being disconnected from others, listening to stressful news and experiencing widening division in society. Even for the most relaxed of us it can have a cumulative effect so taking time for some intentional self-care is so important right now.

Why not choose one of the tips I recommend and incorporate it into your life and see how you start to feel better? And please comment or message me and let me know how you get on with it!!

It's fun to see my book stocked in two of the libr It's fun to see my book stocked in two of the libraries I went to when I was little! I have many fond memories of perusing the shelves and coming home with new treasures.

And if you happen to be in the area I highly recommend a visit to Leigh Library which was originally build around 1838 as a rectory and sits in a lovely garden looking down on old Leigh and its fishing boats.

I hope that someone in Southend or Leigh gets some enjoyment and support from The Art of Coming Home. 📖 ♥️ 🏖

As an amazing course in Psychosynthesis Leadership As an amazing course in Psychosynthesis Leadership coaching drew to a close today, it made me think about the value of an intentional ending. I have grown so much through taking this journey with such a wonderful group of people, and although I am sad to know that part of our journey has ended, I am so excited to see what we all do in the world and how we continue to support each other.

So today I learned the power of ending things with whole-hearted presence and intentionality. Do you feel that you still have unresolved endings or loose threads from your past? Or perhaps there is an ending you would like to complete but have not yet felt able to? It is great to remember that drawing things to a close or a completion at the right time can be the most loving and responsible thing to do for everyone involved. So here's to beautiful endings and the beginnings they make possible.

I enjoyed contributing to this piece by @frostfree I enjoyed contributing to this piece by @frostfreelance on alternative places to buy books on @shareable_gram , if you don't just want to support the one company. As a writer I value local bookshops and have spent many happy hours in them, both as a child and an adult.

I do go through quite a lot of books so I do use cheaper sites as well, but I always make sure to buy at least some of my books from bookshops or companies that support them, because I want them to be around in a few years' time. The company I mention in this article is @bookshop_org, which supports local book shops (there is a UK version also @bookshop_org_uk.

For myself I have spotted several book-shaped parcels in my Christmas present pile so I am excited! I hope you have all the books you want in your life. 📖✨❤️🎄🙌

Well, we're sprinting to the end of the year and h Well, we're sprinting to the end of the year and hopefully looking ahead to a much brighter one! A few years ago I started the powerful practice of doing a personal annual review as a year draws to a close, but I realised that the standard format was not going to cut it this year.

So in this post I take you through a great personal review for 2020 (link in bio). It has been a year like no other and I think we owe it to ourselves to acknowledge what we have dealt with, how we've been strong and what we've gained through hardship. Sometimes it can be very powerful to simply acknowledge what has happened and our feelings around that.

I really enjoyed doing this review as I worked through it (testing out all the steps). I found out some things I did not expect, gained a lot of perspective and also a sense of peace. I hope that I can carry a lot of what I've learned into the new year and the rest of my future, to help make life easier and the good moments sweeter.

If you do your own review, I hope you get a lot out of it and let me know how you get on!! 🙌✨📖✍️♥️

I have finally got around to posting another book I have finally got around to posting another book review (link in bio)! This time, I look at The Black Flamingo by Dean Atta, a book that will give you either an insight or a reflection of what it means to grow up feeling like you don't belong and having to work to find your identity. This coming of age tale is warm, honest and heartfelt and left me feeling like the gooey centre of a melt-in-the-middle pudding (can you tell I'm writing this at dinner time??).

It also coincided with black history month which has been a fascinating learning curve for me - a curve that shouldn't exist, but does. I've really enjoyed watching Lenny Henry's Race Through Comedy show on TV - although there are some parts that are hard to stomach. But it is clear that comedy can be so healing and is something we really need right now. Getting back to the book review, I think reading The Black Flamingo may also be healing for you if you've been involved in a lot of activism or are feeling tired by the times, because the tone is gentle and heart-centred and may be a bit of a healing balm for a world-weary soul. 🦩 🦩 🦩 💓
